I've highjacked a few old journal entries myself to use for newer things.
That tactic came in especially handy when I was handed the reigns to the ~futurama-forever club!
Plus, with a little CSS, I was able to add a scrollable window to my front page journal for club icons and stamps!

well, I didn't want it to be the top journal entry, so I had to hijack an old one it's much neater that way, as long as there aren't a ton of comments on it. I'm not so handy with CCS that I could do anything really nifty.
There's plenty of great CSS tutorials here-abouts.
There's a link to the one I use at the bottom of my journal.
I don't know doodly about it myself, but the one I used was pretty easy to figure out.

My own personal preference would be to keep the colors of the text more consistant and complimentary with each other.
I like your combos of purples and the background colors at the bottom.
And while I like the green in and of itself (I use that clor for the text on my Formaldehyde Blues Train MySpace page)
I don't think it works with the bottom colors. That's not to say don't use green.
Use something a little less neony and something that works with the other colors.
And I would use different colors at the top as well.
Here's a direct link to =S-Que's code which I use. [link]
It contains a link to some good color charts... [link]
And remember:
You can keep clicking "preview" when working on it to see how it looks before you hit the "submit" button.

I tried that, but when you have the whole big long thing of CCS it's hard to remember what color hex# goes where maybe I should try to look through and try to fins the green codes and switch them to a nice blue... would that work better?
If you go be the code link I give you it should be pretty easy.
The code is in BLACK followed by it's explaination in RED.
It tells you what each bit of code does.
All you need to do is pick colors, fonts and sizes.
Just copy and paste the BLACK parts into the CSS editing area of your journal
and fill in the blanks for color, font and size
